Why Christmas Matters

1
by Lee Coleman

Bundle up, Westminster … it’s cold out there! With the temperatures dropping and the Delta finally starting to feel like Christmas, I wanted to forward a couple of helpful links. Tim Keller, with his trademark brand of clarity and intellectuality, gives a brief reminder of the importance of the Christmas incarnation in this article for Relevant Magazine. If you find yourself wondering over the holidays, “Did Jesus really have to be born?” (Yes!) or “Couldn’t God have just forgiven us?” (No!), then this article is for you.

And if you want some further reading on the significance, theology, and history of Christmas, check out Keller’s new book, Hidden Christmas: The Surprising Truth Behind the Birth of Christ. Great stocking stuffer for that theologian you’re shopping for (or a substitute for a lump of coal for the non-literary type on your list!).

See you Christmas Sunday!

Great suggestions, Lee. We will worship this morning at a PCA church planted by Jack Miller. Last night was a very meaningful candlelight service at New Life PCA in Dresher, Pa. Merry Christmas, the Stansels.
